The Myth of “Growth at all Costs”
The modern business world tells one story: grow or die. Endless scaling. Chasing metrics. Treating people like “users.”
This path leads to fragile businesses, burned-out founders, and disconnection from the craft itself. We know this model is broken. We build the alternative: a durable, profitable, and meaningful way.
We Champion the “Stayup”
We are for a different kind of company: the “Stayup.”
A Stayup is built for the long term, founded on the mastery of a craft. It’s not a fragile startup chasing funding; it’s a durable, profitable enterprise.
A Stayup prioritizes people, profit, and purpose over unsustainable growth. It’s a pillar of the community, a source of pride, and an asset built to last.
Why We’re Called UNQA
Our story didn’t start in a boardroom. It started in a school library, with our founder’s childhood fascination for a rare and powerful animal: the Jaguar.
This led to a discovery: the Quechua, the only major indigenous culture in the ancient Americas to survive colonization. They endured, rooted in principles of community and durability. For the Quechua, the jaguar was sacred – an ancestor, a guardian representing the balance of nature.
Their society was tribe-based: individuals focused on mastering their craft, sharing their best work with the community, and exchanging the excess. It was a model built on mastery, reciprocity, and sustainable balance.
In the Quechua language, the word for jaguar is UNQA.
We chose this name as a constant reminder of our purpose: to help the modern masters of craft find that same balance – building durable businesses rooted in community and rejecting the unnatural “grow-or-die” pressure.
